The study examines the tourism situation and performance of the Pécs-Villány tourism area between 2018 and 2023. The aim of the research is to analyse the effects of the pandemic, to explore the spatial rearrangements of the region and to examine the quantitative and spatial distribution of tourism development resources. In addition, the study will review the delimitation of the Pécs-Villány tourism
area at the municipal level, as defined by Government Decree 429/2020 (IX. 14.). The results show that the region was not as severely affected by the pandemic as the national average, but in 2023 there was a significant decline in the tourism sector. Another key conclusion of the research is that a more efficient and equitable allocation of development resources would also be crucial for the balanced development of the region.
